Why do i dream the dreams i do?

I went to sleep last night and dreamt of him. i don't know who he is, but he is familiar. is he someone of my past, my present...or my future.

Today i dreamt if him again. We were walking side by side. We werent together but yet it felt like we were. We were walking along a river and we walked separate ways.
Him towards his life and me towards mine.

How weird that i dreamt of him...someone i do not know but feel as though i do at the same time and the same dream 2 nights in a row.
